Consumers are buying more dairy products, and that increase in demand is fueling growth in the market for dairy processing equipment.
According to a new report from Research and Markets, the dairy processing equipment market in the United States will grow at a compound annual rate of 6.30 percent during the period 2014-2019.
The market is closely tied to demand for dairy products, and dairy producers are currently benefiting from an increase in domestic demand as well as higher exports — resulting from changing diet patterns, the need for healthier food, and the availability of a wide range of products.
The dairy processing equipment market is also driven by advances in technology, with manufacturers increasingly investing in R&D to develop processing machinery with better efficiency and productivity, the research firm said.
At the same time, however, the market is restricted by high costs as well as the long replacement life of dairy processing equipment.
Dairy processing equipment is used for homogenization, blending, pasteurization and filling of dairy products. It enables processing of milk, leading to the production of pasteurized milk, cream, cheese, butter, milk powder and other dairy products.
Key players in the U.S. dairy processing equipment market are Feldmeier Equipment Inc., GEA Group AG, SPX Corp. and Tetra Laval Corp.
Other prominent vendors listed in the report include A&B Process Systems, Alfa Laval, C. van’t Riet, Farm and Ranch Depot, JBT, One Ash Farm & Dairy Supply and Paul Mueller.
