IDEC expands HMI portfolio with APEM acquisition

IDEC Corporation acquired APEM, a move that makes the combined entity one of the world’s largest manufacturers of human machine interface (HMI) components, panels and systems. Together, the companies have more than $500 million in total sales, a broad portfolio of industrial automation and HMI products, and access to markets across Europe, North America and Asia.

Wilo USA acquires 2 pump companies, component manufacturer

Wilo USA  acquired pump manufacturers Weil Pump Co. Inc., and Scot Pump Company, as well as the component manufacturer Karak Machine Corporation, under the terms of an asset deal. The three companies employ about 150 people and have headquarters and production facilities in Cedarburg, Wisconsin, and Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

Victrex acquires fiber manufacturer Zyex

Victrex plc acquired Zyex, manufacturer of PEEK-based fibers, principally for the aerospace, automotive, and industrial markets. The move enables Victrex to continue to offer differentiated VICTREX PEEK-based solutions to open up new markets. The investment will also enable Victrex to explore the potential of additive manufacturing within the fibers area, building on the additive manufacturing consortium announced in 2016.

GLP completes sale of natural gas, electricity businesses

Global Partners LP completed the sale of its natural gas marketing and electricity brokerage businesses to affiliates of Sprague Resources LP for approximately $17.3 million in cash, subject to customary closing adjustments. The completion of this transaction is part of the company’s continuing program to monetize non-strategic assets and focus resources on areas that are fundamental to its long-term growth, according to Global Partners.

LANXESS invests $108M to expand production facilities  

During the next three years, specialty chemicals company LANXESS http://www.lanxess.com and its business unit Advanced Industrial Intermediates will be investing about $108 million to expand production facilities for chemical intermediates. About $43 million will be invested in the Leverkusen and Krefeld-Uerdingen sites in the federal state of North Rhine-Westphalia in Germany. The remaining funds will be used to expand the facilities in Brunsbüttel (federal state of Schleswig-Holstein), and Antwerp (Belgium). The expansion project is scheduled for completion in 2020.

NAI opens additional manufacturing plant, expansion of current facility

NAI  opened its fourth plant in Hermosillo, Mexico, and expanded one of its current plants. The new 27,000-square-foot Plant No. 4 operation is designed to manufacture copper cable assemblies and harnesses growing customer segments in medical device and equipment manufacturing as well as in industrial technology sectors. NAI’s Plant No. 2 operation is expanding with an additional 30,000 square feet. This additional space accommodates the company’s fiber optic assembly operations for its growing telecom and data customer base.

STEGO adds new warehouse

STEGO Elektrotechnik GmbH and its shareholders Isidor Gloning, Werner Schmid and Elmar Mangold, are expanding the company’s headquarters in Schwaebisch Hall in Germany with the addition of a warehouse and logistics facility.  The expansion, where product development and production will continue, is based on a three-stage plan that includes the construction of the new warehouse and logistics facility; the incorporation of a high-tech, robot-guided automatic warehouse; and further structural changes in the office and staff rooms.
