A closer look at some of the newest valves and actuators in the marketplace.
1 | ROTARY VALVE
The ZRD rotary valve is designed for food, mineral, plastics and chemical applications. The valve is engineered for heavy-duty industrial service with pressure differentials up to 21 psi(g) [1.5 bar(g)] and temperatures up to 212°F [100°C]. The ZRD is often used as a discharging and metering valve for conveying products in powder and granular form. An extensive range of sizes is available, with large throughputs ranging from 500 to 400,000 pounds per hour (subject to bulk density and application). The valves have a pressure surge-proof, (pressure shock) rating of 145 psi(g) [10 bar(g)] and are suitable for isolation according to NFPA standards.
Series 92 electric actuators have been installed in a variety of oil and gas applications — including pipeline transmission, well head control and drilling fluids — and chemical plants. The Series 92’s rugged construction, proven design, low current motor and customizable options make it the perfect workhorse for the oil and gas industry. The Series 92’s enclosure is a die-cast aluminum alloy with a thermally bonded powder coat finish. The UL1203 explosion-proof enclosure is bolted together in two sections by eight hex head cap screws and fitted with an O-ring between the two halves, allowing the Series 92 to weather harsh environments.
Fisher Vee-Ball Rotary Control Valves are now available with Cavitrol Hex Anti-Cavitation Trim to reduce or eliminate vibration caused by cavitation. The Cavitrol Hex trim option provides improved performance in severe service applications while maintaining valve efficiency, resulting in increased safety. Cavitrol Hex’s anti-cavitation trim substantially decreases vibration. Even though noise may still be present, the frequency is shifted, resulting in reduced vibration and improved plant safety. Cavitrol Hex trim is available on Vee-Ball V150, V200 and V300 rotary control valves. It can also be easily retrofitted into previously installed Vee-Ball valves.
The PST30 Diverter Valve is designed with internally shim-able positive stops, inflatable pneumatic seals at each port, position indication from the tunnel itself, and external tunnel position indication. Additional features include 145° port-to-port rotation, a two-way switching capability for either dilute phase or dense phase conveying applications, aluminum or 316 stainless steel housing, end plates, plugs and inlet and outlet ports flanged to mate 150# ANSI or 10N-DIN flange patterns. The housing, plug and endplates on the aluminum valve are hard anodized for wear resistance.
